Allways Concrete Ltd 's concrete driveways and pathways combine functional strength and durability with a good-looking finish

The driveway is one of the first things people see when they pass your property, so it is important that it is in good condition and looks good. But driveways also need to be durable enough to withstand a lot of traffic movement and the weather year round.
Allways Concrete Ltd expertly lays concrete driveways and pathways at properties across Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. We can also carry out any required siteworks before the concrete is laid.

Exposed aggregate and plain concrete are popular, cost-effective choices for your driveway and paths

The most economical option for any project is plain concrete. This is perfect for pathways and driveways when budget is a consideration as well as function.

Another common choice for driveways is exposed aggregate. It's a popular choice because it provides extra grip and doesn't show tire marks as easily. To achieve the look, we pour the concrete and then remove the top layer to expose the aggregate stones underneath. The exposed aggregate is functional and looks great.

Resurfacing can give an old driveway a new lease of life

If your driveway is looking a bit worse for wear, it may just need some maintenance rather than total replacement. Driveway resurfacing can improve its look. We can also acid wash and seal old concrete to make your driveway look fresh again.

Key information about your new concrete driveway

When can I use my new driveway?

Maximising the life and look of your new driveway means keeping cars off of it for about 7-14 days. The weather has the greatest impact on the time it takes your driveway to be fully set. Damp weather will extend the setting time.
If you are using decorative concrete for your driveway, it may need sealing 7-10 days after pouring. Keeping off your decorative concrete driveway as much as you can until sealing will minimise the chance of permanent marks or stains. Setting and sealing time combined may mean staying off your decorative driveway longer than a plain or exposed aggregate driveway.
Will the concrete crack?

You should expect some cracking in all concrete as a natural part of the drying process. We use standard techniques to help minimise cracking but we cannot guarantee random cracking will not occur.
One way that we minimise unwanted cracking is through expansion cuts. We will return to your site to make the expansion cuts within a few days of pouring. These cuts provide a weak point where the concrete can shrink and relieve strain on the join.
